Overview of the role
As an AOSP Developer, your primary responsibility will be to maintain and enhance the AOSP framework and applications. This involves making custom modifications to meet specific requirements, including alterations to components like SystemUI, Framework, and other applications.
You’ll work closely with Android services to ensure seamless interaction with devices. Your expertise will extend to UI/UX elements, covering Layouts, Views, Animations, Styles, Themes, and Material Design Components (MDC). Utilizing tools like Android Studio, Git, and command-line utilities like ADB, you’ll contribute efficiently to the development process.
To excel in this role, you should possess a strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and shell scripting. A deep understanding of the AOSP build system, Makefile, and Blueprints is crucial. Your ability to troubleshoot issues independently, often with limited official documentation, will set you apart.
Your problem-solving capabilities will be critical, necessitating strong research skills. Given our remote work environment, being proactive and self-driven is a must. We value a sense of ownership – we expect everyone to take charge of key aspects of the OS and contribute to its continuous improvement.

As a key member of the OS team at Murena, your primary mission is to deliver an impeccably smooth user experience, free of any bugs. Our global team collaborates closely other squads, such as Devices, Apps and Cloud.
Communication within our team often takes on an asynchronous nature, and we rely heavily on GitLab to seamlessly manage day-to-day activities. We value every team member’s input in shaping the roadmap towards enhancing the reliability of our OS, fostering a culture of collective ownership and continuous improvement.
