Energy Label regulation
In accordance with European legislation, Directive 2009/125/EC and Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, all authorised representative, manufacturers, importers, distributors, suppliers or dealers who place electronic goods in the European market, have to provide clear energy labels and product information for every smartphone and tablet.
This regulation aims to improve environmental performance of products for greater energy efficiency and sustainability. It also allows for the end customers to have a clear vision of the product’s energy impact, and give them the possibility to easily compare and choose a more energy-efficient and durable devices.
Ecodesign and Energy Labelling for /e/OS
/e/OS provides users with an operating system that helps people to protect their privacy and gives them control over their data. /e/OS also aims to offer an eco-friendly solution that limits its ecologic impact. /e/OS does this by limiting data collection about people, thus reducing the energy associated with data storage, analysis and transfer, by working with sustainable hardware manufacturers like Fairphone and Teracube, and by supporting smartphones and tablets as long as possible. You can read more about these actions on www.murena.com/impact.
In terms of on-device energy usage, so far, our tests show that /e/OS is mostly comparable to Google’s Android. Therefore, the same energy labels apply as provided by the manufacturers in combination with Android. These energy labels and the devices’ product specifications can be found in the links in the table below.
